Apparently there's been a posh do this evening at the Royal Society to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Diamond Light Source. In fact the Diamond Light Source has its own anniversary blog that's been posting celebratory things for a while; the actual anniversary being celebrated was the signing of the agreement to set up
