What's in an exoplanet name?

David Dodge says: Im for naming them. Have the astronomers who first identify them assign a provisional name based on some naming conventions and then have an international committee select an alternate name if they find one objectionable. Naming them will help popularize the field in the eyes of the public and could only be a good thing.

Naming stars

Rob says: My parents bought a "Name A Star" kit for my grieving niece and nephew who lost their newborn son. When we bought it I should have checked it out more thoroughly but in our time of grief I didn't think to. It's really annoyed me that the people selling this kit have taken money for what we thought was a genuine thing.
